What to notice
Use one trigger at a time
A brief, controlled observation can separate water delivery from drainage or enclosure escape, but only when no active damage is occurring. Note handle position, diverter use, drain level, and spray direction. Do not remove trim or open a ceiling to perform a home diagnosis.
Surface water is still part of the record
Water outside the enclosure may come from a door, curtain, joint, cracked surface, or user pattern rather than concealed piping. Photograph the dry area before use and the first point that becomes wet. Tell the provider about recent grout, caulk, fixture, or bathroom work without asserting it caused the problem.
Scope testing and restoration
Ask how the suspected source will be confirmed and what finish removal, if any, is needed. Plumbing repair, tile or enclosure work, drying, ceiling repair, and painting can be separate. Request a controlled leak test after the repair before an access opening is closed, where the responsible professionals consider it appropriate.
